The Society of Sin & Krewe du Who Celebrate 52 Years of Doctor Who with Burlesque Event
NEW ORLEANS, November 11, 2015 – New Orleans-based burlesque and variety troupe The Society of Sin, known for their “nerdlesque” plays, is joining up with “Doctor Who” fan community Krewe du Who to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the beloved BBC show with a comedic burlesque production.
“Doctor Who-Ha: a Doctor Who Burlesque Play,” written Xena Zeit-Geist, is currently scheduled to run for only one night, Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Eiffel Society (2040 St. Charles Ave., New Orleans, La.) at 9 p.m. Tickets are currently available online at http://doctorwhoburlesque.eventbrite.com and will be available at the door the night of the show. General admission tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. VIP tickets have already sold out.
“The Society of Sin is really excited for this show, especially since Krewe du Who made it one of their official events,” said Xena Zeit-Geist, Founder of The Society of Sin and writer and director of “Doctor Who-Ha.” “They’re even lending us their life-size replica TARDIS for the production.”
In addition to celebrating the show’s 52nd anniversary, Zeit-Geist mentioned that the show is going to be a birthday celebration for Cherry Bombshell, one of The Society of Sin’s founding members who will be starring in the production as The Doctor. “Cherry loves Doctor Who so much that I think she cried when she found out that the show was happening and that the Krewe du Who TARDIS would be there. It’s the perfect birthday party for her.”
In “Doctor Who-Ha” the Doctor’s mind has been invaded by a virus that’s corrupting his memories. With the help of the TARDIS’s memory matrix, The Doctor revisits his favorite old memories in attempt to fight the virus. The show stars Cherry Bombshell, Xena Zeit-Geist, Stevie Poundcake, Queenie O’Hart, Nikki LeVillain, and Ash Wednesday with appearances by Azazel von Satan and more surprise guests. The cast and the Krewe du Who TARDIS will be available for photo ops with guests after the show.
