New Show from The Society of Sin Combines Burlesque, Body Paint and LGBT Love

NEW ORLEANS, June 14, 2016 – New Orleans-based burlesque and variety troupe The Society of Sin has teamed up with Designs by Dane body painting to bring a brand new, groundbreaking show to the stage this summer full of singing, striptease, and LGBT love.

“The Wonderful Wizard of Oooo,” written/produced by Xena Zeit-Geist and co-produced by Cherry Bombshell, is currently scheduled to run for only one night, Friday, June 24, at Eiffel Society (2040 St. Charles Ave., New Orleans, La.) for two showings—one at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.) and the other at midnight (doors at 11 p.m.). Tickets are on sale now at http://wizardofoooo.eventbrite.com, with general admission tickets selling for $10 in advance or $15 at the door, and VIP tickets for sale for $20 online. VIP tickets are expected to sell out before the show.

The show will parody a popular cartoon that stars a boy and his dog adventuring in a post-apocalyptical magical world with his best friends—a candy princess, a vampire queen, a talking computer, an elephant who loves to bake, and more and will crossover into themes from the classic tales of The Wizard of Oz and the more recent Wicked. With focus on a romance between two female characters, the burlesque musical will feature live singing as well as live striptease from all members of the cast.

Zeit-Geist explained that she is particularly excited for the show to hit as part of Louisiana’s first official LGBT Pride Month this June. “Almost the entire cast and crew are LGBTQ (with the couple that aren’t LGBTQ identifying strongly as allies) and we want to put something positive out there. We want to tell gay love stories and stories about how important it is to love yourself. We want to put diverse bodies on stage—ones that don’t necessarily fall neatly into the gender binary or align perfectly with societal standards. No matter what horrible things happen in the world, we’re working to be a loud, positive, creative force in it.”

“The Wonderful Wizard of Oooo” features burlesque and singing by Xena Zeit-Geist, Cherry Bombshell, Jade Patton, Stevie Poundcake, Madonnathan Hastings, Ash Wednesday, Danger Rockwell, and Harvey Wallbanger. Body paint by Dane Baxter of Designs by Dane, stage kitten Angie Z, and tech by Amen Five.
