The Society of Sin and Krewe du Who Partner with Wizard World Comic Con for Doctor Who Burlesque Eve
December 31, 2015 – After the success of their Doctor Who-themed burlesque show, “Doctor Who-Ha,” last November New Orleans-based burlesque and variety troupe The Society of Sin, known for their “nerdlesque” plays, had decided to bring an extended version of the show to the stage with the sponsorship of Wizard World Comic Con New Orleans and local Doctor Who fan group Krewe du Who.
“Doctor Who-Ha: a Doctor Who Burlesque Play,” written by Xena Zeit-Geist, is currently scheduled to run for only one night, Sunday, January 10, 2015 at Eiffel Society (2040 St. Charles Ave., New Orleans, La.) at 9 p.m. Tickets are currently available online at http://doctorwhoha.eventbrite.com and will be available at the door the night of the show. General admission tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. There are a limited number of VIP tickets on sale online for $25 which include couch seating near the stage and express entry to the event.
“This will be our second year working with Wizard World,” said Xena Zeit-Geist, Founder of The Society of Sin and writer and director of “Doctor Who-Ha.” “Last year, they gave The Society of Sin its own booth, and Cherry Bombshell and I had a blast nerding out all weekend. I’m really looking forward to doing that again!”
In addition to working with Wizard World, Zeit-Geist mentioned that Krewe du Who will be bringing back their replica TARDIS for the show, and the audience will be permitted to take pictures with the TARDIS and the cast after the show.
In “Doctor Who-Ha” the Doctor’s mind has been invaded by a virus that’s corrupting his memories. With the help of the TARDIS’s memory matrix, The Doctor revisits his favorite old memories in attempt to fight the virus. The show stars Cherry Bombshell, Xena Zeit-Geist, Harvey Wallbanger, Queenie O’Hart, Nikki LeVillain, and Ash Wednesday with a musical performance by Dr. Sick, appearances by Azazel von Satan, Mr. Luxurious Fox and more surprise guests. The cast and the Krewe du Who TARDIS will be available for photo ops with guests after the show.
