The Society of Sin Launches Star Wars Parody Show
NEW ORLEANS, May 3, 2015 – New Orleans-based burlesque and variety troupe The Society of Sin is preparing their third theatrical production of 2015, a comedic Star Wars/Pulp Fiction crossover show titled “Pulp Science Fiction: A Star Wars Burlesque Play.”
“Pulp Science Fiction,” written by J. Alfred Potter and Xena Zeit-Geist, is currently scheduled to run for only one night, Friday, May 15, at Eiffel Society (2040 St. Charles Ave., New Orleans, La.) at 9p.m. Tickets are currently available online at http://starwarsburlesque.eventbrite.com and will be available at the door the night of the show. General admission tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. VIP tickets sold out three weeks ago.
“This has probably been our most fun show to put together,” said Xena Zeit-Geist, Founder of The Society of Sin and co-writer of “Pulp Science Fiction.” “The troupe is full of huge Star Wars fans, so working on this show has been a dream for many of us.”
In agreement with Zeit-Geist, Potter pointed to “Pulp Science Fiction” as a benchmark for how much The Society of Sin has grown since their first show together last spring, “Arkham ASS-ylum: A Batman Burlesque Play.” “If you like what you've seen from us so far, you ain't seen nothin' yet. We're only just beginning,” said Potter.
“Pulp Science Fiction” features classic Star Wars characters in roles and situations one might remember from Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” and sneaks in more nudity. For example, C-3PO and R2-D2 (played by Leg Luthor and Cherry Bombshell) are the Pumpkin and Honey Bunny characters, turning to robbery as a means to demand respect for droids. Hitmen Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield are smugglers Chewbacca and Han Solo (Nymphadora and Pappa Razzi), and Han, disguised as a Stormtrooper, is tasked with entertaining Darth Vader’s prisoner, Princess Leia Organa (Xena Zeit-Geist) for an evening. Other notable cast members include The Reverend Spooky LeStrange, Stevie Poundcake, Amen Five, The Maniacal Menace, Ash Wednesday, and Lydia Treats.
